Carnival/Halloween Haunted House

Halloween is just around the corner, and many societies and clubs have been preparing an annual event for students to check out. This event may be a chance for students to celebrate the Halloween holiday before they get off for the weekend.
“The event is called the Haunted House of Rose High,” art teacher Randall Leach said. “It’s a walk through of several classrooms and it’s an interactive, real deal haunted house.” The Haunted House of Rose High is open for students to enjoy on Oct. 31. The event will be hosted after school from 4 p.m. to about 6 p.m. While there, students can walk through the haunted house the National Art Honor Society members spent the past couple of months planning. Going through the house will be free to all visitors, and while people wait to get in, they can go to the mini carnival also hosted by Rose. “We have been planning this event since the beginning of school, so this allows us to make it bigger than last year,” senior Hannah Lanoue said. Since last year’s haunted house was so popular, the National Art Honor Society decided to not only do it again, but to start early as well. Doing this allows them to not only have a larger haunted house, but also allows them to plan and prepare the carnival that will occur the same day as the haunted house. As for the carnival’s preparation, although it was planned the same time as the haunted house, SGA members will be handling its construction. “It’s called the Fall Carnival, and it’s managed by SGA members,” senior and SGA president Mia Connell said. “While there, students will be able to play various games, buy cotton candy and even visit a fortune teller booth.” The carnival will run just as long as the haunted house and will be available to those who are not able to enter the haunted house at the time. Although the haunted house will be free, the carnival will charge for most if not all of the stalls. “Also while there, the drama club will help out with the house by doing a skit and various other things while people walk through it,” Leach said. The drama club will be assisting by standing in as extras, spreading publicity and by performing an act within the house for students who enter. Students will be able to check out the haunted house and the carnival today after school. The haunted house will be held in the 600 hall while the carnival will take precedent in the 200 hall; both of these events will last until 6 p.m. Pricing for the various stalls at the carnival will vary. For instance, stalls such as the fortune telling booth will cost 25 cents, while things like slushes and ice cream cones are two dollars. The event may give students who do not usually do things for Halloween a reason to get out and celebrate the holiday as well. So until then, students have a chance to decide whether they want to go and check out NAHS and SGA’s work. |
