The pressure that comes with being new student also applies to new faculty. Every year, Rose gets new teachers in various departments and from many places. Along with starting a new year comes with challenges. This specific year Rose gets three new math teachers; math teacher Amanda Davis is one of these new these new teachers.
“working with unmotivated students is a challenge” said Davis. If students don’t help the new faculty at Rose then that would not only make the teachers job harder but also gives faculty a hard time here as well. Luckily for Rose the staff help each other out as well as support each other when they need help. “yes, we support each other all the time,” said Davis. The math teachers starting this year are very cooperative and help each other a lot. The pressure doesn’t just come from students though, it also comes just from being a teacher and coming up with your own techniques “ I’m getting use to teaching with the high school kids,” Weaver said. As a new faculty member here at Rose, you have to get accustomed to many things. These teachers are inspired by their students and love working at Rose as teachers and faculty members. “I’ve always liked working with kids,” Lawrence said, “I’ve always liked helping kids and everything and seeing the potential and letting them know their potential.” These new faculty members are inspired and motivated about being here at Rose but what inspired them to become teachers or faculty members here? Although Resource Officer David Lawrence is technically not a teacher, he is still new to Rose and ready to help make Rose a safer environment for everyone here. “I’ve always liked working with kids,” Lawrence said, “I’ve always liked helping kids and everything and seeing the potential and letting them know their potential.” Other teachers, such as Entrepreneurship teacher Lavetta Roundtree, said that she received her inspiration from volunteering with kids at elementary schools. “I used to want to work for a magazine but my heart led me to be a teacher,” Roundtree said Students are not the only ones getting accustomed to their classes. When it comes to future concerns, topics vary from communication to uniforms. These new faculty members hope to bring a new outlook to rose. “Communication between the staff, better communication as far as if they need help,” Lawrence said. Despite this being their first year at Rose, these faculty believe that with their help Rose can inspire, organize and make Rose a safer place for everyone. Other than these concerns, the new faculty starting at Rose find the school delightful and are ready to help the students achieve all they can. “I like it here a lot; I hope to continue my professional career.” Roundtree said. Like many teacher’s, Roundtree enjoys teaching students as much as they can while they are still in Rose. Although these new teachers and staff fill different roles at school, they all hope to educate and motivate kids at Rose. |
