Talent in rap
The Rapping Talents of Shimmy JBY ELIZABETH WILLIAMS ON OCTOBER 10, 2014
Freshman Shemar Jordan has many talents, but one in particular is freestyle rap.
Jordan has been enamored by rap since the age of 13, when he first started listening to the genre. “I just kind of freestyle,” Jordan said. “I haven’t really written anything down.” Although he really enjoys the style of Childish Gambino and Juicy J, he says he wouldn't be the fan to jump on stage with them. “I haven’t ever performed in front of more than like 10-15 people,” Jordan said. “I mostly just mess around with a few of my close friends.” Although he likes to try and collaborate with his friends, they are not always so eager to join in. “I try to rap with two of my good friends Roman and Robby” Jordan said. “But they always say that they can’t keep up with me.” Jordan gets inspiration for his freestyle from those around him and the places he goes. Sophomore Roman Galaska describes Jordan’s style as “spontaneous.” “He raps about literally anything,” Galaska said. Spontaneous and skilled, Jordan has the ability to put a smile on anyone’s face when he starts rapping. “He’s really good at rapping,” freshman Robby Wacker said. “He can take like any common phrase and turn it into something people can laugh about.” Jordan has a passion for rhythm and rhyme; this is one of his many qualities that make him stand out from the crowd. |
