Staff members
These staff members are the real MVPsBY MEGHAN MOLONEY, COLLIN LOY AND EMILY HARVEY ON OCTOBER 31, 2014
Although we may be slightly biased, we believe we have the best journalism staff known to man. We don’t have time to mention all 40 of our writers, but don’t worry, we love you all.
We are the luckiest editors-in-chief in the world to be able to have such a hardworking group of students who love this paper as much as we do. Just to save space, this editorial is a shoutout to all of our section editors, Y’ALL THE REAL MVPs. Let’s start with our news section. Martha and Jordyn are both first-time editors and are given the daunting task of designing the front page. Both of them work hard to finish everything way ahead of time. You guys rock. And shoutout to Menna for being such a huge help; you editing all the stories lightens our load a considerable amount. Next is opinion, edited by Merritt, our only lone editor. We put her in charge of her own section, so you know how much we must trust her. She also brings lots of humor to the lab, which is much needed on those stressful exporting days. P.S: Headlines and Rampant Rants are her specialty. Then comes features, the section that has to deal with the spread. Instead of using a template, Keeley and Macie have to remake the two-page spread every issue. Then add on all of the last-minute changes we ask them to make, and this is a stressful section. Our personal favorite spread is this Halloween one -- way to go, guys! Entertainment is edited by the dynamic duo of Rice and Wade. Some people thought we were crazy for putting so much responsibility into this pair of best friends, but we knew it would work out. Rice and Wade both have other jobs as managers of the lab and the website, but somehow their pages are always done on time. They would like to be known as the “bad boys” of journalism because entertainment reviews get to break most journalistic rules. Finally, we would like to brag on sports. Due to the fact that there are seven staff writers, sports can be a difficult section. Brainstorming nine different sports stories every three weeks is quite a challenge. William and Monica always have their stuff together. By having pages completed on time, William and Monica are two editors who we can rely on 100 percent of the time. We love all of you so much. From our group chat, Wall of Raw pics and SMART Block bonding time, every single one of you have made journalism unforgettable for us. Long live RL. |
