Preparing for Fall Weather
Students Shop 'Til They DropEmmie Barnhill September 16th, 2014
As the 2014-2015 school year is getting into full swing, Rose Rampants have been shopping in Greenville. Students looking for uniform tops, bottoms and fall clothing have discovered that versatile pieces can be found anywhere.
Finding collared shirts for school in just the right color can be a challenge. At the start of this school year senior Killian Casson moved here from Maryland. She found herself in Target, Old Navy and J. Crew to get her shirts. Casson thought their supply of dress code appropriate clothing made adjusting to the uniform policy a breeze. “Old Navy has cute clothing that adheres to the dress code, which makes having to wear a uniform much easier.” Casson said. Senior Larry Yang searched for his in-class clothing at JCPenney this year. Yang’s mother helped him find exactly what he needed because he is not an avid shopper. “[I] could not find any bargains,” Yang said. Yang is not alone in his parent aided search for clothing. Sophomore Kyseem Powell is a JV football player. Powell’s favorite uniform store is Big B Mart. “The uniform store right next to Wal-Mart is the one I get my clothes from,” Powell said. Polo shirts are his favorite to wear to school. “I like them because they fit well under my football jersey,” Powell said. Powell prefers to stay out of the shopping scene and let his parents take care of it. Though Powell does not deter shopping like Yang does, he does not particularly favor it. “Both of my parents shop for [my uniforms for] me,” Powell said. With the help from his parents, Powell feels prepared for this school year Rose students go uniform shopping in stores that they believe offer a variety of stylish clothing that adheres to the dress code. As the bikinis and crop tops leave the shelves to make room for blue jeans and jackets, Rose students share that they are having no trouble finding great fall fashion around town. Casson shops the sales and finds bargains at Target. The bright ads on TV draw her in, then the clothing sells itself. “[I finds] great items that complement my preppy style,” Casson said. Yang keeps it simple when shopping for the fall necessities. “[I] look for swaggin shirts,” Yang said. A quick stop into JCPenney gets him prepared for the chilly weather. Powell focuses less on his clothing style for the fall, and more on footwear. “[I go to] places in the mall like Hibbett Sports,” Powell said. Whether it is a girl who loves to shop and could do it all day, or a guy like Yang who can not get it done fast enough, Rose students are finding what they need in town. The Rampants are prepared for the upcoming season in the classroom and out in the community. By frequenting stores that are practical, they find exactly what is needed to be dressed properly for the occasion . HTML Comment Box is loading comments...
