TESTING
Ready for college, sophomores?BY TOBIAS WILLIAMS ON OCTOBER 18, 2013
When most teens hear the word “test” they freeze because either they didn’t study for it or they forgot about it. But what if this test can help you prepare for the ACT or SAT? The Plan Test is a multiple- choice test that is made by the same company who make the ACT. It helps students see what areas students may need improvement in such as english, math and science... The PLAN Test website says this could help students measure and plan their way into college. Also, this can help students work on the areas they need the most help in like math and help them stay on track with the high school courses they would need to take. Need help in choosing a college major? The Plan Test can also help students determine what they may want to major in college. Even though it doesn’t help students get into college it is good to prepare you for the ACT.
“The test made me study a little more,” said Cameron Higley, “I knew most of the reading and stuff.” Sophomore Micah Holmes is about to take the PLAN Test this year for the first time. “I am a little nervous about taking the PLAN Test because I just want to do good on it.” said Holmes. Holmes wants to go to college but he is not sure about what college he wants to go to. Holmes is stuck between two colleges and two career paths. Higley is a junior and has already taken the PLAN Test. Higley said he didn’t study for the Test. The state does not require students to take the PLAN Test Rose students have been taking the Plan Test for two years according to Uvonda Willis. This test is mainly for the sophomores to take. They take it to help them with academics and choose the path they want to go on mid-way in their high school career. There’s a section in the test called “Your Interests” this is where students will choose what career they are most interested in. Just as scores are important for the ACT to help you get into college so are the scores for the PLAN Test. The scores can help determine if a student are below average, right on average, or above average. Students can look on the back of their score cards and see different ideas to help them improve in different areas.According to the PLAN test website, They also have ways to help students to use different study skills. For the different subject scores they have a percent of how well the student did in their class. The scores can also tell the student if they are “College ready” and if not they can help by telling students different things to do like getting a tutor. There is no way of studying for The PLAN Test students can have an excuse not to study. There is no penalty for guessing on this test said the PLAN Test website. Students get an hour and fifty-five minutes in all for 125 questions but the test is broken up into smaller portions and get a certain amount of minutes for each section.
