Sophomore Dwayne Britt shares his talent of hip-hop dancing with anyone who will watch. Dancing allows Britt to escape the stresses of school and everyday life.
“Its kind of my happy place; its my passion,” Britt said. Britt’s passion for dancing is no new fad. His interest for the sport was discovered as a child. “I was young, probably like five or six years old, [when I started to dance],” Britt said. He still loves dancing just as much today as he did 10 years ago. The internet has become Britt’s favorite tool to utilize when he wants to access more information. He looks on YouTube for inspiration and new moves. “I go on YouTube and look up tutorials about how to do certain dances,” Britt said. He studies the videos and adds the new moves to his repertoire. His interest in dancing has thrived because of the people he looks up to. Britt thinks that admiring their dancing talent improves his own dancing. “[I became interested because of] Markees Scott and Lez,” Britt said. Just like the videos offer inspiration to him, the famous people do as well. No matter how busy Britt gets, he always makes time for dancing. “I [dance] whenever I get the chance,” Britt said. Since he devotes his time to something that he considers himself talented at, Britt’s passion for hip-hop dancing continues to grow. |
